AFRICAN VOLUNTEERS
Africa Volunteers is a non-governmental organization and non- profit making organization based in Kampala, Uganda, and that organizes 3-8 weeks voluntary workcamps, for both Ugandan and International Volunteers. We build schools and community centers, plant trees in deforested areas, organize AIDS education campaigns, and more. The projects are a great opportunity to get a completely new experience, learn about African and Ugandan culture, and help poor communities at the same time.

DOES AFRICAN VOLUNTEERS ORAGNISE THE WHOLE YEAR ROUND VOLUNTEERS WORKCAMPS?

No there are 2 seasons or cycles of the workcamps -summer and winter .the summer period starts in May and ends at the end of at he October , while the winterChristmas period goes from the seconds week of November to the end of January 3-4 weeks workcamps are organized during the both of these periods but not between.
WHAT KIND OF WORK DO THE CAMPERS OR VOLUNTEERS DO? WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WORK?
African Volunteers organizes a variety of projects , including the construction primary and secondary schools, Orphanage Centers , churches and hospital as well as reforestation, Coffee plantation , literacy projects , community developments Girl Child Education and Aids awareness campaigns, Christian Discussion,
The function of the volunteers ,however is not do the work for the various communities but rather to assist them in " Helping themselves" by the working with them on the projects. The common denominator is that the community development work of african volunteers , in addition to being self help is sustainable. And grassroots -local communities decide which projects are needed and feasible.
Volunteers work about 7 days hours from Monday to Friday, with occasional work being done on Saturday .The work is usually done before 1:00 PM clock so that afternoon are free for various trips , dancing , sports or other leisure activities . Including discussions , Ugandan dances , games and africa singing .Some evening each week are also left free on the some weekends ,excursions are also planned to various local attractions including Rwenzori National Park and Kasubi Tombs, and various cultural places of Buganda clan and also various Ugandan Interested places .
